Coffs Harbour is a large town on the mid north coast of NSW with a population of 60,000 people. It is located 540 km north of Sydney and approximately 7 hrs driving.
In Coffs Harbour you will find the Solitary Islands which consists of several large and small islands, reefs and pinnacles flattened over 40 miles of ocean parallel to the coastline.
Diving the Solitary Islands is a great experience especially if you haven’t dived north of Sydney before. The biodiversity of marine life is just incredible.
The Solitary Islands provides access to almost all of the pelagic species that Australia has to offer.
Pelagic species commonly encountered include the following:
• Spanish Mackerel,
• Wahoo,
• Sailfish,
• Cobia,
• Barracuda,
• Black and Striped Marlin,
• Yellowfin, Bluefin and Mackeral Tuna,
• Amberjacks,
• Dolphin fish,
• Several species of trevally.
Reef species encountered can include the following:
• Jewfish,
• Mangrove Jacks,
• Jobfish,
• Snapper,
• Blue Barred Parrot Fish,
• Moses Perch,
• Pearl Perch,
• Tusk Fish,
• Spangled Emperor,
• All other reef species like Bream, Tarwhine, Black
Drummer, Red and Blue Morwong, Surgeon fish,
Lobsters (green & painted) plus many more all
year round.
You will find lots of big Kingfish, Samsonfish and Jewfish all year round.
Over the years many spearfishing records have been set in the Solitary islands, and when the blue water currents push into the coast it can make for one of the most exciting dive locations in Australia.
We will be conducting charters to the Coffs Harbour area on safaris of 5 days or more.
The visibility usually varies from 10 to 35 meters.
