I will be your skipper, guide and organizer for all trips. As the skipper of the boat my job is to ensure your safety and also to put you where the fish are and make sure you have a great time aboard!
My passion for spearfishing began in Genoa, Italy in the Mediterranean Sea and has continued my whole life on the other side of the world here in Australia.
It wasn’t until 1994 that I took the sport more seriously and decided to take up spearfishing competitions which I still compete in to this day. Since then I have top scored in two rounds and won 5 B Grade Championships in the Alliman Shield which is probably the most competitive spearfishing championship in the southern hemisphere.
In 1998 I participated as a reserve with the Australian team at the World Spearfishing Championships in Croatia. It was a great experience to speak with some of the worlds best divers and was most definitely a learning curve on how the competition scene works.
My other passion besides competition diving is chasing big fish up and down the coast.
When the water is clear I also enjoy capturing video footage of my catches including both reef and pelagic species.
In 1995 I organised the first trip for the Omer team to the Blue water freediving classic held in Woolgoolga, Coffs Harbour. The team was made of two Italian champions, Stefano Bellani (2003 World Spearfishing Champion & Italian Champion in 2004) and Giuseppe Tortorella (European Champion).
The following year at the same spearfishing event in Coffs Harbour I assisted and guided the Italian National Team consisting of Team Captain Roberto Borra, and a team of four consisting of (Stefano Bellani, Giuseppe Tortorella, Maurizio Ramacciotti and Fabio Antonini).
Following the departure of the Italian team I also assisted the Spanish National Team whilst they were in Sydney.
After many years and numerous spearfishing trips away on the eastern Australian coast I have discovered many great spots for big pelagics and reef fish, and will be happy to share them in the hope that you too may have the chance at going home with a prize fish and great memories!
