This trip is suited for divers looking to spear rare species of fish that are not normally seen back home. So for an unforgettable experience and once in a life a life time opportunity join us in Mexico to catch the big ones!!
The diving will take place on Isla de Holbox which is an island located on the Southern tip off the Mexican Gulf in the Yucatan Peninsula. The waters off Holbox Island are home to the ocean's largest fish … the Whale Shark. During the months of May through to September you will witness these huge mammals as they come to feed on the plankton rich waters created by the nutrient currents of the Gulf, Caribbean, and the Atlantic.
DIVING
We will dive in remote areas which are rich in fish – not only is there a large quantity of the difference type of species but a large quantities of each specie. During some dives it‘s not unusual to see up to 10 different species of reef fish and pelagics swimming together. You will be thrilled with the concentration of fish at any given dive spot, whether it be was a small patch of reef or a wreck. The hardest task will be which fish to spear! You can expect dives between 8-13 metres deep around the reef and 18 to 25 metres on wrecks.
Species of Fish you are likely to encounter include:
- Cubera snapper to 50kg +
- Sail fish
- Amberjacks to 40 kg
- Cobia to 55kg
- Cods ranging from 10 to 60kg
- Barracuda to 25 kg
- Tarpon fish to 50 kg
- Variety of Snappers to 10 kg+
- Mackerel
- Wahoo
- Jacks
- Trevallies
- Pompanos
- Huge selection of reef species
ACCOMODATION
The accommodation itself is a small family resort which is made up of 10 Caribbean style bungalows on a white sandy beach. The location is in the heart of town close to shops, restaurants, bars etc and only 50m walking distance to where the charter boat is moored.
