THE DIVE SPOTS - TWEED HEADS

Tweed heads is a big town on the far North Coast of NSW near the Queensland border with a population of 56000 people.

It is located 825 km North of Sydney which is approximately 11 hrs driving.

Tweed Heads offers a couple of big offshore reefs (Fido’s & Nine Mile) where a majority of the diving will be done. There are also many other bommies and pinnacles to dive down south depending on conditions.

In these locations it is possible to find just about every reef and pelagic fish in Australia!

The warmer months are when Tweed can really run it on providing some of the best spearfishing action in the country.

It is during this time that the warm currents push down from the Barrier Reef bringing with them large numbers of BIG Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel, Sail fish, Giant Trevally and Black Marlin.

The Australian record Giant Trevally of 63kg was speared in this area and Black Marlin to 177 kg have also been landed in the areas you will be diving!

Combined with a healthy population of species including King fish, Jewfish, Mangrove Jacks, Job fish, Snapper and Tusk fish it truly is one of the best locations to dice in NSW.

We will be conducting charters to the Tweed heads area only as part of the 10 or 12 days safaris due to its distance from Sydney.

The visibility varies from 10 to 35 meters.
